Born of Italian immigrants and union activists, this Long Island, NY native understands the passionate struggle of the American dream. Recalling Stevens, Cohen, and Springsteen, Joe’s music is rooted in classic folk: honest and raw.
After coming on the scene in 2007, Joe released his debut cd, Traveling Salesman in 2008. Heralded by folk radio, it was picked by WFUV’s John Platt as an honorable mention for one of his favorite albums of the year.
Quickly expanding his reach, Joe found his way overseas, touring throughout Europe in the summer of 2009, and then again in 2010 after the release of his sophomore LP, All In Good Time.
The fan-funded All in Good Time featured songs that were stripped to their very essence. All In Good Time was well received, especially by the International Folk DJ’s. These 10 tracks, would be the last recordings Joe would release for the next eight years.
After returning from Europe in 2010, Joe stepped back from touring and recording to care for his family and explore other projects.
In 2015, Joe was approached by the band Spuyten Duyvil to produce their third album. The resulting album, The Social Music Hour, Vol. 1 was heralded as a breakthrough for the band, and was nominated by Folk Alliance International and the national folk DJs for Album of the Year. Joe would return to work with Spuyten Duyvil on their single, The Warmth of Other Suns, released as a commentary on the 2016 presidential election.
Continuing in this new direction as a songwriting coach and music producer, Joe was approached by Americana and Folk artist Carolann Solebello to produce her 2018 release. Working closely with Carolann on song choice, delivery, and arrangements, the end result is, Shiver; a deeply personal album that balances earthy and vibey full-band songs alongside several very simple and unadorned acoustic treatments.
Throughout 2018, Joe will record and release a string of new singles and once again begin performing in small regional venues. He continues to work with artists as a producer and songwriting coach, and you can find him occasionally sitting in on guitar with friends and other performers.
